Vegan Wedding Dresses – Modern Bridalwear Without Animal-Derived Materials

Do you live a vegan lifestyle and want to avoid animal-derived materials on your wedding day too? Sooner or later, one question comes up: Are there actually vegan wedding dresses?

The answer is yes. And choosing a vegan wedding dress doesn’t mean compromising on design, quality or how your dress feels.

At kisui, we have been designing vegan wedding dresses and bridal looks for many years – modern, beautifully made and Made in Germany.

What makes a wedding dress vegan?

A vegan wedding dress is made without materials of animal origin. That may sound simple, but when it comes to bridalwear, it can be more complex than you might expect, as the materials used in a dress and its individual components are not always obvious at first glance.

Traditional silk, for example, is made from silkworm cocoons and is therefore not vegan. Wool, feathers, mother-of-pearl, leather or animal-derived components in accessories may also play a role.

Instead, vegan wedding dresses can be made from materials such as high-quality viscose, polyester, tulle, organza and other modern textile qualities.

And this is exactly where things become exciting for us as designers.

For us, a fabric doesn’t just have to be vegan. It has to drape beautifully, feel good against the skin, have an interesting surface and, most importantly, have the potential to become a really beautiful wedding dress.

Vegan can look incredibly luxurious

Many people still associate vegan fashion with compromise. We see it differently.

A modern crêpe can have a beautiful weight and fluid drape. Tulle can be featherlight, shimmering or feature three-dimensional details. And contemporary lace does not necessarily contain silk.

That is why you cannot tell just by looking at our vegan wedding dresses that they are vegan.

You simply see a beautiful dress.

Our collections include many different vegan bridal looks – from clean, flowing dresses to modern corsets and skirts, as well as romantic styles featuring tulle, lace or unusual details.

One example is our Roxama Dress: a clean, figure-hugging wedding dress made from matte viscose with a stretch component, featuring a low back and slit. Worn on its own, it is beautifully minimal; combined with a top, overdress or veil, the entire look can be transformed.

Many of our separates are vegan too. Tops, corsets and skirts can be combined to create your own individual bridal look.

Because choosing a vegan wedding dress does not mean choosing one particular style.

Clean. Romantic. Fashion. Relaxed. Minimal.

Anything goes.

Can a lace wedding dress be vegan?

Absolutely.

What matters is not how the lace looks, but what it is made from. Many modern laces are made from synthetic or plant-derived fibres and contain no animal-derived materials.

So if you love lace, you can still choose a vegan bridal look – from delicate transparent lace to modern graphic or three-dimensional designs.

Are vegan and sustainable the same thing?

Not necessarily.

“Vegan” simply means that no materials of animal origin are used. It does not automatically tell you where a dress was made, how far its materials have travelled or under which conditions it was produced.

The same applies to certifications. Certifications can provide useful information about particular materials or stages of production, but not every fabric or small fashion label is certified. Certification processes can be complex and costly, especially for small businesses.

The absence of a certification therefore does not, on its own, tell you how or where a garment was made. This is why we prefer to give you specific information wherever possible – about materials, manufacturing and the origin of individual fabrics.

Our wedding dresses are made in Germany. Many of the fabrics and laces we use come from European suppliers, including mills in Italy and France. We produce in small quantities and place great importance on craftsmanship, quality and careful use of our materials.

Does my wedding dress have to look “typically bridal”?

Luckily, no.

Maybe you want a long white dress. Maybe a skirt and corset. Perhaps a clean slip dress with a spectacular top. Or maybe you want something beautifully understated for your civil wedding and plan to style individual pieces differently afterwards.

Your wedding outfit should suit you – not an idea of what a bride is supposed to look like.

That is one of the things we love about vegan bridalwear: it shows just how many possibilities there are when materials, design and personal style come together.
